Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 19, 2026 | Operator: 25 Alpha LLC

1. Who we are

SlopeFactor is operated by 25 Alpha LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), a Delaware corporation. SlopeFactor is a free Algebra I readiness platform for Maryland students. Our contact email is info@25alpha.ai.

2. Information we collect

When you sign in, we collect:

  • Your Google account name and school email address (for authentication only).
  • A personal email address used as a permanent identity token.
  • Practice activity — which problems you attempted and your answers.
  • Progress data — scores and mastery levels per MCAP evidence statement.
  • Device and session data for security and platform improvement.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, government IDs, financial information, or health information.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide and improve the SlopeFactor platform.
  • To track your progress across MCAP Algebra I evidence statements.
  • To send you progress updates and platform announcements (opt-out available).
  • To enable teachers to view class-level progress (not individual detailed data without consent).
  • To meet our legal obligations under FERPA and Maryland law.

We never sell student data. We never use student data for advertising.

4. FERPA compliance

SlopeFactor is designed to operate as a "school official" under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) when used by a participating Maryland school district. Education records are protected and disclosed only as permitted by FERPA. Parents and eligible students may request access to, correction of, or deletion of education records by contacting info@25alpha.ai.

5. Children under 13 — COPPA

If SlopeFactor is used by students under 13, verifiable parental consent is required before the student may access the platform. Schools that use SlopeFactor as a school official may authorize use under COPPA's school consent exception. See our Children's Privacy Notice for full details.

6. Maryland Student Data Privacy Act

SlopeFactor complies with the Maryland Student Privacy Act (MSPA). We do not use student data to build profiles for non-educational purposes, sell data, or engage in targeted advertising to students.

7. Data sharing

We share student data only with:
  • Your school or district (as permitted by FERPA).
  • Service providers operating under data processing agreements (e.g., cloud hosting).
  • Law enforcement when required by applicable law.
We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or third-party analytics platforms.

8. Security

We use AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit. Access is restricted to authorized accounts. We maintain an immutable audit log of all sensitive data operations.

9. Data retention

Student data is retained for the duration of active enrollment plus 7 years to meet FERPA recordkeeping requirements, unless a shorter period is required by your district's agreement with us.

10. Your rights

  • Access, correction, and deletion of your data (email info@25alpha.ai).
  • Opt out of non-essential communications.
  • Port your data in a machine-readable format.
  • File a complaint with the Maryland State Department of Education.

11. Changes to this policy

We will notify users by email and in-app notice at least 30 days before any material change to this policy. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
